It’s not too late to get your tickets to Chicago Gourmet to be held Friday, September 23 through Sunday, September 26 in Chicago’s stunning Millennium Park, located on the corner of Michigan Avenue and Randolph Street. Presented by Bon Appetit, foodies and winelovers alike will be able to taste and sip their way through the weekend with a stunning array of small bites created by star chefs and world class wines that only the fortunate will be able to swirl. Live chef demonstrations, seminars, and more are planned. I’m already looking forward to another palate pleasing Chicago Gourmet this year.

To kick off the weekend is the ever popular Hamburger Hop. On Friday, September 23 from 6-9pm at the Harris Theater Rooftop, you’re invited to taste gourmet burgers, beer, wine, spirits, and more while many of the area’s top chefs engage in a burger smackdown like no other. Who determines the winner? A celebrity panel of judges chooses the city’s Best Burger award and you’ll help decide which burger is the People’s Choice.

Still ready to get the weekend started in high gear? Join fellow revelers at Late Night Gourmet, the “official after-party of Friday’s Hamburger Hop” from 9pm-midnight (location to be announced).  Dance to one of Chicago’s coolest DJs, enjoy small bites and drinks, and meet some of the Chicago Gourmet chefs, sommeliers, and other movers and shakers who make all things food and wine happen in Chicago.

On Saturday, September 24 from noon-6pm and Sunday, September 25 from noon–5pm, the Great Lawn of Millennium Park will be filled with exhibitors and demonstrations.  You’ll be able to enjoy premium wines, spirits, beer tastings, gourmet food samplings from amazing chefs and their restaurants, and celebrity sightings. Visit the Chicago Gourmet site regularly for updated information.

One of my favorite events continues to be Grand Cru, held on both Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25 at the Harris Theatre Rooftop from 2-4pm.  Featuring exceptional wines from around the world and small bites from award winning chefs, this is a must, especially if you love Shakespeare. This year, Complete Culinary Works, a component of Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s Shakespeare 400 celebration, will be a pivotal piece of Grand Cru.  Renown chefs will present their culinary spin of Hamlet, As You Like It, Romeo & Juliet and other notable works. Wow! Please note: Grand Cru is a separately ticketed event. A same day ticket to Chicago Gourmet must be purchased along with that of the Grand Cru.

Each year Chicago Gourmet is sold out (the Weekend Pass already is!) so don’t delay in purchasing your tickets. Let me know if you’ll be there!

Cheers~ Cindy
