It’s almost Friday and you are already thinking about your weekend plans and perhaps which wines to purchase.  Weekly, I post two recommendations for your weekend wine choices which are usually under $20.  This weekend will be busier than the last.  A baby shower to welcome a new little girl and a dinner party to say farewell to dear friends are planned – both events exciting for everyone!  I can’t think of more fun wines to help celebrate than the two choices under $20 I’m suggesting for your weekend, too.  Enjoy!

**Divalicious Pink Pinot 2012 – It’s a girl and she’s pretty in pink!! This Pink Pinot from Little Black Dress sent to me as a sample and consists of 75% Pinot Grigio, 13% Muscat, 10% Chardonnay, and 2% Viognier.  With a base of Pinot Grigio, the aromas were of the classic citrus, pear, apples, and tart strawberries.  On the palate, there were more of the dry and tart tastes of red fruit…and a raspberry finish.  This interesting wine costs approximately $10.

**Anna de Codorniu Brut, NV – It’s high time you try Cava from Spain!  This sparkler sent to me as a sample was the first Cava to incorporate Chardonnay in its blend and the result is a lovely fresh quality with soft aromas and character.  The Chardonnay grapes were cultivated in the D.O. Cava region with a continental climate which provides the grapes with concentration, lower acidity, and greater body and intensity.  The Parellada variety comes from the Penedes area.  With its hot, Mediterranean climate the grapes open earlier which guarantees higher acidity coupled with citrus and floral aromas.  I love this wine’s clean pale yellow color and continuous bubbles just dancing away!  Aromas of tropical fruit led to soft tastes of refreshing fruit.  Just wonderful!  Cost is $18.
