Rosé continues to be one of my favorite wines for a variety of reasons. Done right, rosé is a gentle expression of the red grape from which it’s produced, exuding flavors that are unique, refreshing, and food friendly. This is precisely the reason my rosé loving colleagues at #winePW selected this wine to pair with our choice of culinary treats in June. My choice? I complemented my new favorite appetizer, Mixed Olive Tapenade, with a chilled bottle of memorable Galil Mountain Rosé 2014.

Join us on Twitter at 11am EST on Saturday, June 11, as the group shares interesting recipes you’ll actually make and wines you’ll want to discover for yourself. Galil Mountain Rosé 2014

This beautiful wine, sent to me as a sample, is of Sangiovese, Pinot Noir, and Grenache, grapes sourced from one of Israel’s best winegrowing regions, Upper Galilee.  The rich 2000 year history of winemaking in Israel combined with efforts of sustainability and sensitivity to the environment on the part of the winemaking team led by Chief Winemaker Micha Vaadia, presented itself in each sip of the Galil Mountain Rosé.

Glistening rich pink in the glass, I immediately noted alluring aromas of ripe raspberries, strawberries, and roses. On the palate, I found mouthwatering acidity and flavors of more juicy, red fruit and just a hint of freshly snipped rosemary. Its acidic, fruit forward profile was a brilliant counterpoint to the briny, savory notes of the Mixed Olive Tapenade. Balanced and refreshing, find the Galil Mountain Rosé 2014, chill, and enjoy. Cost is $12.
