It’s almost Friday and you are already thinking about your weekend plans and perhaps which wines to purchase.  Weekly,  I post two recommendations for your weekend wine choices.  My occasional “Wine and Dine” articles suggest a recipe with wine pairings, but others (like this!) offer choices around $20 – one white and one red. Already this summer I have done extensive traveling – to Peru, Spain, Canada, and plenty of states in America! I have not yet gone to Chile, but for now, that’s ok…because I have samples of wine sent to me from Casillero del Diablo.  Following are my notes from two easy drinking wines at a price point of under $20.  Ole!

**2012 Casillero del Diablo Reserva Sauvignon Blanc – Served chilled, everyone loved this snappy, aroma filled wine from the Chile’s Casablanca Valley, one of the largest wine regions in the country.  It was light and refreshing on the palate yet with plenty of citrus and not too much grapefruit! Dry with high acidity, this Sauvignon Blanc offered a tangy finish and the feeling that we needed another glass! Cost is $10.

**2012 Casillero del Diablo Reserva Pinot Noir – Again from the Casablanca Valley, the color was pale ruby and after a few swirls aromas were of red berries and exotic spices.  Tastes revealed medium acid and tannins with more of those red berries (strawberries?) and sweet spices, chocolate, and even coffee.  This balanced wine had a nice finish and price…$12.
