The Gifts of Andrea Bocelli – Happy Valentine’s Day

You may already have chosen your Valentine’s Day wine – terrific!  However, you can consider the Bocelli Family Wines Prosecco (sent to me as a sample) one which can be enjoyed any time (Valentine’s Day!) and with any one…just sit back, close your eyes, and if you aren’t already listening to Andrea Bocelli’s stunning voice on a CD, you can imagine him next to you…in Italy…among the vineyards.

There aren’t many who are unfamiliar with the award winning, shiver inducing (it’s true!) voice of the famous Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli.   He has sold over 70 million albums and may possibly be the most successful classical music artist of all time.  But there are some facts about Mr. Bocelli which you may not know.  His sight was impaired from birth and as a young boy he lost that sense permanently.  As I am aware and perhaps you are, too, when one important sense is taken away, another may be miraculously enhanced.  For Andrea Bocelli, his gift of a beautiful voice was honed through years of private training, discipline, motivation, and the love and support of his family.  Truly his voice is a blessing for us all.

Yet what has paramount importance to this man is the gift of family…and the wines!  The Bocelli family has been creating wines on their Tuscan farm for over 130 years.  Several members of the family continue to have hands-on roles in the process and apparently music, laughter, and good wine are the core of their life.  Now, the family has partnered with other outstanding growers to produce Bocelli Family Wines and their portfolio contains a Sangiovese Toscana, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet-Sangiovese blend, and an Old Vine Sangiovese…and of course, their Prosecco is fantastic!

**Bocelli Family Wines Prosecco DOC – Paired with fresh shrimp, I absolutely enjoyed these bubbles from 100% Prosecco (or some may say Glera) grapes .  The vineyard from which these grapes were sourced is in Valdobbiadene, Veneto, an area where Prosecco grapes call “home”!  The unoaked sparkler itself was light with subtle floral aromas and tastes of stone fruits such as peaches and apricots. The finish was lingering with the scant minerality which I have grown to love.  At a price tag of around $15.00, you will find Bocelli’s Prosecco a gift to swirl, sip, and savor.
