Greek Wine Dinner in Chicago (join me!) ~ Opa!

santorini greeceWho is ready for a trip to the Greek Islands or a vacation in the cultural mecca of mainland Greece?  I am, but my euros are not!  Instead, I’ll be attending a Greek Wine Dinner at Chicago’s 2 Sparrows which is hosting their first food and beverage dinner of 2013 on Friday, January 18.  You can join me, too!

The dinner will highlight some of the highest regarded winemakers brought to the United States by Ted Diamantis of Diamond Wine Importers.  Ted will also be on hand to educate guests on each featured wine and winery.  The five course menu by Chef Gregory Ellis will be served with a complementing wine and includes the following:

1st Course

Caponata

2011 Domaine Skouras Moscofilero, Peloponnese

2nd Course

Whitefish, tomato, onion, kalamata olive, celery root, lemon

2011 Domaine Sigalas Assyrtiko, Santorini

3rd Course

Sweetbreads, black eyed peas, garlic, red pepper, oregano

2008 Domaine Karyday Xinomavro, Naoussa

2008 Alpha Estate “Hedgehog Vineyard” Xinomavro, Amyndeon

4th Course

Lamb, wild mushrooms, couscous, chickpeas

2010 Domaine Skouras Saint George, Nemea

2007 Domaine Skouras “Grand Cuve” Aghiorghitiko, Nemea

5th Course

Olive oil cake, green cardamom, orange

2004 Domaine Sigalas “Vinsanto,” Santorini

The Greek Wine Dinner is priced at $70 per guest, exclusive of tax and gratuity, and begins at 7pm.  The evening promises to be fun and educational thanks to unique pours and traditional Greek flavors.  If you can attend or would like more information, please contact Sarah Sackett at Isabelli Media Relations (sarahs@isabellimediarelations.com).

Doesn’t this sound fantastic?  I hope to see you at 2 Sparrows on January 18th!!

Opa! ~ Cindy

And of course, I’ll be writing about the *wine* and food pairings!!
