I promise that this post will end the Nostalgia Fest I have subjected you to during the last couple of posts.  This summer my family and I spent a week in Nags Head at the Outer Banks of North Carolina, a place where I first learned to love when I was six years old.  We gathered at a beautiful oceanfront beach house where we enjoyed each others’ company and… learned to love Ben F. of Bachelorette (now soon to be Bachelor) fame.  And that, naturally, segues into wine.

Ben Flajnik, “lovingly” called Ben F. throughout the show, Danny Fay, and Michael Benziger are partners in Envolve Winery in Sonoma, California.  After reading information about these guys, it is apparent that Danny and these childhood friends, Ben and Michael, are loving life and their chosen avocation.  I wish Ben all the luck in the world in finding “the one”, but if the Bachelor show is not pleasing to his palate and doesn’t evolve to a successful finish, I know a few ladies who wouldn’t mind spending some “alone time” with him – hear that, Ben??

And, speaking of the Benziger Family, I visited its winery and tasting room in Glen Ellen in Sonoma County this past spring.  Our group was provided a fantastic tour and explanation of their third-party certified sustainable vineyard program. I was impressed with their biodynamic, organic, and sustainable endeavors. Many wineries are following the same path which is admirable especially if the fruits of their labor can result in a wine which is not only delicious on the palate but for the earth.  For more information, check out the Benziger Family Winery website at www.benziger.com.

So, let’s get back to summer (for the last time) and savoring a glass of wine, shall we?  A perfect wine for sipping on the verandah and watching the waves meet the shore is Benziger’s  2010 Sauvignon Blanc (around $20.00).   With  aromas of lime and grapefruit, easy on the center of the palate, and a fresh  and clean finish you may be inspired to plan your next beach vacation!  By the way, the photo below is a view of the Atlantic Ocean from our verandah~

Cheers!  Cindy
